Child & Educational Advocacy

An advocate assists individuals through educational and mental health systems to obtain necessary services for youth and their families.  Advocacy can range from acquiring appropriate academic student support to advocating for youth’s rights. 

    • Educational Advocacy includes support to obtain academic accommodations such as a 504 or IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) designed for students with an academic, physical, and/or mental impairment that substantially impacts a youth’s progress in school.
    • Child Advocacy seeks to protect children and adolescents’ rights and speak on behalf of the child acting in their best interest.  An advocate acts in the best interest of youth in situations such as abuse, neglect, delinquency cases, or other associated court proceedings.

Psychological Diagnostic Evaluations

Assessments help identify presenting concerns that impact daily functioning in different areas of a youth’s life.  Diagnostic evaluations can be utilized to assist with obtaining academic support or help direct therapeutic services.  Evaluations offered include but are not limited to:

    • Adaptive and maladaptive behavior
    • Personality and emotional development
    • Academic skills
    • Memory and Learning skills

Teletherapy

Psychological services that support the mental health of children, adolescents, and adults.  Therapy sessions are offered virtually so one can access services from the comfort of home.

Professional Development

Speaking engagements such as webinars, trainings, or presentations provide amazing opportunities to obtain more information on specific topics surrounding mental health.  Presented psychoeducation is tailored to meet the needs of the audience or organization by increasing awareness and strengthening the use of specific skills.  Topics can include, but are not limited to:

    • Crisis Prevention & Response
    • Suicide & Self-Injury Awareness
    • Mental Health Diagnosis
    • Self-care & Work/Life Balance
    • Parent-Child Relationships

Therapeutic Groups

Support groups provide individuals with an opportunity to discuss common concerns and experiences collectively in order to provide and obtain emotional therapeutic support.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is provided to fellow psychologists, psychology associates, and students studying clinical psychology in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.  The goal of supervision is to facilitate and evaluate the growth of the supervisee’s clinical competencies and psychological practice highlighting the importance of protecting the client.

Clinical Consultation

Consult with a subject matter expert to acquire evidence-based information on best clinical practices and/or available mental health resources to support diverse populations in various environments.  Clinical consultation offers an amazing opportunity to better understand:

    • Mental health impairments experienced by youth and adults
    • Effective problem-solving alternatives for teachers, parents, and professionals
    • Strengthen working relationships between educators, parents, community agencies, and/or organizations
    • Promote positive learning, work, and/or home environments for families or multi-disciplinary teams
    • Develop sustainable programming for agency-wide initiatives 

Family Community Resource Guide

A knowledgeable resource clinician is available to assist families navigate and access higher levels of mental health care.  Family community resource guide will work with individuals to liaise between the family, insurance provider, agency, and/or treatment center.  This form of support is invaluable to those who are experiencing what could be one of the most stressful times in their lives.

Contact the office to schedule a FREE initial consultation call with Dr. Lauren.  The initial consultation call is aimed to confirm the type of services being requested.   Prior to starting services, you will receive an email with the Coping Corners, LLC information packet and instructions on scheduling the first session.

Clients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to confirm the insurance coverage and deductibles.  Transparency is key, especially for clients seeking services outside their insurance coverage.  The cost for clinical services with Coping Corners can range from $150 – $225 depending on the type of services requested.

Behavior Modification

Reduce occurrences of problematic behaviors by learning different ways to respond to behaviors at home, in school, and/or at work

Trauma Informed Care

Learn and adopt trauma informed practices to better understand aspects of one’s cultural experiences and trauma history so that appropriately tailored supports are implemented in specific realms of life.
